Three sculptures by A. Rodin about Eternal love

Metropolitan Museum of Art. New York City.

Take a two minutes break for contemplation of three sculptures about Eternal love - “Pygmalion and Galatea”, “Orpheus and Eurydice”, “Eternal Spring” - were created by the great French sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840–1917).

"I consider that the body is the only true clothing for the soul that allows its radiance to shine out." (Rodin to Gsell, 1907).

P.S. Founded in 1870 by a group of American citizens, today The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the world’s largest and finest art museums located in the City of New York.

Note:
Pygmalion and Galatea
Date: modeled 1889, executed ca. 1908–09
Medium: Marble
Dimensions: H. 38-1/4 in. (97.2 cm.); W. 35 in. (88.9 cm.); D. 30 in. (76.2 cm.)
Description: Book X of Ovid's Metamorphoses relates the story of the misogynist Pygmalion, who falls in love with an ivory statue of a maiden he himself has carved. The goddess Venus transforms the figure into living flesh, and Pygmalion marries the perfect maiden, Galatea. Rodin's sculpture depicts the moment when the sculptor sees the first stirrings of life in his creation.

Eternal Spring
Date: modeled probably ca. 1881, executed 1907
Medium: Marble
Dimensions: 28 ? 29 ? 18 in. (71.1 ? 73.7 ? 45.7 cm)
Description: Eternal Spring is full of awakening sensuality, implying neither guilt nor punishment to come. The sculpture was extremely popular, and Rodin repeated it often both in marble and in bronze.
The two young nude figures meet in a kiss. Her legs graze the ground and her upper body is held in a taut arc and supported by the embrace of the male figure. He is posed precariously on the edge of a rocky mound, crossing his legs, and extending his left foot beyond the base of the sculpture as his left arm reaches out gracefully into space.

Orpheus and Eurydice

Orpheus managed to enchant Hades, ruler of the underworld, with his music, so that Hades released Euridyce, on the condition that Orpheus did not turn back till both lovers had left the underworld. But Orpheus couldn't resist the temptation to see her beloved again and Euridyce disappeared forever. This mythological subject was very popular in Rodin's times.

The specific heroes of Totem village – Part 1

This video is an attempt to tell a little story invented by fragments of totem poles.
Get pleasure from this amazing meditation! Also see Part 2

P.S. Totem poles are sculptures carved from large trees, such as the Western Red Cedar. In North America, totem poles are part of the cultures of many indigenous peoples of Alaska, British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. On Totem poles, each figure represents part of a story or important event. These totems are used as a way to record the history and legends of the tribes or a family.

One of the Totem villages on Canada’s beautiful West Coast (Vancouver, BC) showed here is Canadian native people creation. The contribution of Aborigines in Canadian culture is rich and unique. They have mastered this land and were the first: mighty forests, emerald rivers, mountains to the skies, endless prairie, silver salmon and ocean - we followed them. Totems, superstition and witchcraft rites, rituals and myths - juicy cocktail Aboriginal Canadian culture - symphony of spirit, sounding through the centuries.

This is special charm of Canada!
